Live press report, husband arrested for school teacher's murder seven years after her disappearance.

- Per WBRZ

quote:

EAGLE PASS, Texas – Oscar Lozada has been taken into custody and is awaiting extradition to Louisiana, WBRZ learned Friday.

Lozada is charged with murder related to the death of his wife, Sylviane, in July 2011.

Sylviane Lozada is presumed dead, although her remains have never been found. In an arrest warrant filed for her husband Thursday in Baton Rouge, East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff’s detectives said Oscar Lozada killed his wife. The couple had a history of domestic abuse, family friends told WBRZ.

The arrest warrant describes a bloody crime scene. Oscar Lozada purchased bags of concrete and buckets with locking lids before his wife disappeared, leading to suspicions that her remains may have been dismembered and dumped somewhere.

I thought the husband bolted to South America and did not return.

Seeing this all over twitter, don't recall the story. What happened to the daughter if the father bolted?

I know a lot of really happy people right now. Didn't think this would ever happen. I wonder what they did to trick him into coming back. Sounds like maybe they got the Mexican authorities to cooperate, so they probably tricked him into going to Mexico and then had him handed over from them. Glad the daughter is safe and so happy for Silvia's family that they will get to see her but I feel horrible for the little girl. This is going to turn her life upside down...again, but now she is much older and will remember much more and know exactly what is going on. She will also have to learn to live with a new family and will probably end up moving to Belgium with them.

Sylviane Finck Lozada, a teacher at Brusly High School in West Baton Rouge parish, disappeared on July 5, 2011. Lozada was transported across the border overnight and is now being held at a detention center in Eagle Pass, Texas. Records at the jail in Maverick County Detention Center show he is being held there on an out-of-state warrant.
