In reality it wasn't that many.
There are many other black people in history that did a lot more for this country that would a better choice.
Mary McLoud did more for blacks and women than Tubman. BUT she isn't as well know so the political pandering wouldn't get enough publicity.

In Texas, your party affiliation resets every January 1st so if there's ever a year you wish to vote in a primary, you can without being tied to the party long term.
You don't even have to register. Voting in that primary will serve as your registration and it will expire December 31st.
