Definitely do the Comal. You can rent an extra tube for your ice chest. Just be sure to bring bungee straps.

The Comal is fine, tubed it last weekend. It's up a bit and was dirtier than normal, but it's probably back to normal now.

Pro tip: use Landa RV as your start point. Cheaper than Rockin' R, Texas Tubes, etc. If you walk all the way to the left of the campgrounds, it will add about 30 mins onto your float. It's right at the headwaters. Pay the extra $5 for the second shuttle and tube again.

Cops wre out in force like I've never seen them last weekend, probably because the Guad is closed. Make sure you don't have any small disposable items like Jell-O shots or handles of liquor. Should go without saying, but a guy in another group got popped for a $500 ticket for having a handle.

And please, for the love of God, take multiple onion sacks for trash.

Wonder if the cops have made there way to the SM with the Guadalupe being out of commission. I've tubed Dons every summer for the last 3 years and it's by far the least patrolled.

Doubtful. The patrols on the Comal are NBPD.

I for one am happy cops are patrolling heavy on the river. Nothing makes a family tubing trip suck moreso than drunk assholes messing up the river.

Don's is open. I have friends from Chicago in this weekend for a bachelor party. Don's is sending a shuttle to pick them up in downtown Austin tomorrow morning and bringing them back after the float.

I did the Frio River in Concan, TX last summer. Beautiful part of Texas.

Cold as frick! It takes me. 30 minutes to get in it.

San Marcos river is pretty fun too (and cold as frick too) starts at the college with a hell of a lot of eye candy. Used to be BYOTube, don't know if that's the case anymore.
