New Braunfels tubing

Headed to new braunfels for a bachelor party and planned on tubing the guadalupe river.... As luck would have it, the river is closed.
Would we have a good time on the Comal? Can we drink? Other college age kids or mostly families with children? Any advice?

It's much shorter than the Guadalupe, but still fun.

Yes

Teenagers and up from my experience. Schlitterbahn is right next door, so some families do come over from there.

All walks of life there, good looking women and no glass allowed. Enjoy! You'll have a blast. Be sure to check out Gris mill as well for dinner.
Comal is better IMO as there aren't as many people. Plus, it would be better if you have kids. During the summer, the Hitching Post (I think the name is correct) has cool concerts where kids are allowed.

if the guad is closed and the comal is open, it will be extremely packed ... you can drink on the comal and it's generally not as fast as the guad ... both of them have their share of idiot college kids ... one thing about the comal is the place where you get out for most companies ... it is rocky and very, very slippery ...

A lot of rivers in that area of Texas are so high right now they are closed
Arkansas has a lot closed as well or go in at your own risk
Definitely wouldn't recommend drinking on any of the high rivers now

I'm not sure any river in the area is safe yet. Lots of debris may still exist.

would've thought the same thing, but the comal camera is on and it's open ... guess it's protected somehow from the water/debris ...

The comal is maintained by the city so it gets cleaned up fairly quickly during tourist season.

I hear they have a schlitterbahn water park near there that's supposed to be really awesome. I don't know if they have drinking or not b/c I've never been myself..

Trying to call dons but not getting an answer. Wondering if the San Marcos is closed too...

Comal is the shortest river in Texas and springfed. Flooding is not an issue unless there is a deluge currently underway.
It's your best option in CenTex right now. My advice is to go earlier in the day and do a couple of trips down. Then hit Gruene afterwards.

Well in la you live pretty close to nations biggest river full of piss, vomit, and fertilizer. Maybe even drink water from it. And dont bat an eye.

If you do float at Dons youll get to see exactly how high the river got.
Its amazing the ammount of water that came down that river.
