It's not just sugars and sucrose. Our food is poisoned with preservites and chemical flavors.

But the sugar lobby is far more powerful than those for preservatives and chemicals. I’m sure the sugar barons are lining up expensive cars, yachts and mansions to give RFK to prevent him regulating the sugar content of our foods, as they were until the mid 1990s.
He has already called sugar the “poison in our foods.” I hope he was just being sincere in his opposition to it and not putting the sugar lobby on notice to pony up the bribes.

I’m sure sugarcane growers are part of what may be the most powerful lobby in DC. They’re so powerful that they convinced the American Medical Association to blame obesity on excessive fat intake instead of sugar, back in the 1980s. That’s why your local GP tells you to maintain a low-fat diet for weight loss. Sugar is never mentioned.
