After confirming that you are breaking no law, ordinance, etc, tell him tampering with and putting stuff in a mailbox is a federal offense and that you will be pressing charges.

Part of the reason I don't want a louder exhaust is so I don't wake the neighborhood when I leave for work before 6am. I try to be considerate of others.
I usually leave at 5:15 AM. That gives me time to stop by the donut shop, eat, and still be in Shreveport by 7 AM with time to spare.
I live on a farm to market road in East Texas. He lives next to me with about 150 feet of trees separating our houses. I have to drive by his house on my way out every morning. I usually try to be light on the throttle but the speed limit on our road is 70 mph so I can't just baby it.

Pick up a little HP due to less restriction. Gotta be careful not to get the head temps up too much if you get carried away.

That is early but I'd say you are ok given the description of your hood.

I got it because one of my friends has a 2010 with the same exhaust. I was standing behind it the first time I heard him start it up. I actually jumped when it fired up. It just sounds awesome.

For increased power and/or a 'better'(highly subjective) exhaust note.
Having a loud exhaust on a street car draws too much unwanted attention IMO.
