Damn, dude. I was lying. Remember that guy who started the thread asking us to help him look for a house? Said he could work anywhere because he works online from home making $30k a month and he had $750k saved up in the bank.
And the guy who said I post a link to a book is lying too. I never did that.

Have not seen a correct post to your question yet so here goes... It will NOT just magically drop off your credit report after 7 years. It MAY drop off after 7 years of INACTIVITY meaning that you could go with this blemish on your credit report for years, then some debt collection agency could file something on it with the credit reporting agencies and it will stay on for another 7 years. During this time be prepared to pay very high interest rates and be turned down for things like cars and mortgages unless you, at a very minimum, get your account up to date with payments....and every time you make a payment, every time they garnish your wages, etc.....yep, that is called 'activity' and the payment history over the years will be on your credit report for 7 more years from that point. If you're lucky, at some point it may actually have 7 years of inactivity and at that point it MIGHT drop off but it won't be 7 years after you stop paying. Unless you legitimately plan to ignore this for life and deal with the consequences then you'd be better off just paying it.

I remember. You average 11 post per day, and I was wanting in on a job that pays me 40k per month to post 300 times per on here.

I think its stupid of government to hand out 40k loans to a 18 year old kid who went to get a biology degree with a minor in leadership. They took advantage of me and I want to repay the favor.
Are you for real? Get off your lazy arse and apply your biology degree because you sure don't need to use the leadership degree.

quote:As pointed out, you can't get out of student loan debts. The government is involved; you can't beat the gov't. Some student loans are forgiven for various reasons. My sister-in-law won some type of lottery and all of hers was forgiven.
I have about 40k in student loans and wondering if I can just not pay and let it default.

I think there is some type of student loan forgiveness programs...which entails paying the minimim for 20 years and getting the remainder discharged.
But then you pay taxes on whatever is forgiven.
The fed gov is the biggest loan shark and collection agency in the world. You cant run from them .

I have zero student loan debt, however, my wife had some when we were married. If you ever file a joint return with her, you will have to fill out a form showing how much of it is yours and the government will take that. You can only do this 1 year. The next year, if you file a joint return again, they will take the entire return and apply it to the loan debt. I learned this the hard way through my wife. So, in short, you're fricking up both your and your wife's finances if you decide not to pay.

You were not complaining when you were getting the money but now your complaining and thinking of how to get out of paying. What's the matter? no Job prospects. Next time pick a field that has better prospects.
