Need input on a golf travel bag

Need to take my clubs on a trip and was wondering about a good travel bag for the clubs. Had my eye on this one

Bought this one at golfsmith a while back. This is a great buy for the price and easy to travel with. In the store, they had an additional $20 rebate. For $100 you can't beat it. Hard shell all the way around. Have traveled 3 times with it so far and haven't had issues.

Don't scrimp. The number of times you will need the case and the value of what's inside of it can justify investing in a sturdy one. Alaska Airlines broke a attaché case of mine last month that I thought was bulletproof. I got reimbursed but it was a pain in the arse to deal with after the SEA-MSY flight. (Think MSY employees...)

If it's a soft sided bag they aren't going to cover the damages to the clubs

Has anyone tried shipping their clubs to and from their destination? Friend of mine owns a few UPS stores and they ship a ton of clubs during peak travel times. They have a pack and ship guarantee in the event of damage during transit. He ships them to the hotel and gives a return label to where you call for a pickup the day you leave out.
I don't travel much but was thinking about trying this one day.

For me it isn't really the best option because I get at minimum 2 free checked bags when I fly and I'll sometimes switch hotels at the last minute.
For someone that would be paying bag fees and may have excess luggage where the fees become outrageous, it's a good option. I'd also imagine that someone who is older would consider it as lugging my bag from baggage claim to rental car centers can be a good workout...and would be impossible if I had to have more than my one small rollerboard suitcase in addition to the clubs.

Whatever bag you pick, make sure it is NOT a soft sided bag! I made that mistake once bc it was on sale and a club was broken as a result

I've got a soft sided bag with wheels, extra padding near the club head area, and it has a hard "spine" up the middle. Flown with them over 40 times and no issue.
