Bulging disc in your neck.
Mine was much worse and it went away with P.T.
You have to quit sleeping on your stomach, it puts backward pressure on your neck which can cause a disc problem over time.
Waking up a couple of times with your right torso and arm feeling like it's on fire will break you from sleeping on your stomach.

Thanks for the info and advice to those who offered. It's definitely coming from my neck and it's really painful. When I can fall asleep, the pain wakes me up an hr or two later.

Definitely try physical therapy first, and if that doesn't work try an epidural. I had similar issues and rushed into surgery because my practice was already shut down from Katrina. Thought surgery would be a quick fix. Had an anterior cervical fusion/discectomy at C5-6-7. Ended up with more problems than I started with and now I'm retired due to disability for the rest of my life. Exhaust all conservative options.

PT should fix it. That plus, stretching plus traction worked for me and I had three bulging disks. Don't wait for it to get better on its own, highly unlikely it will.

10 min heat followed by traction with a Neck Pro 2 followed by 20 min ice. Do this twice a day.
I'd try that for 2 weeks and if not getting better then probably looking at MRI to confirm what most likely already know. Doc probably would try steroid injections depending on the severity of MRI results.
Good luck

Stick your head in between the rails on some stairs, and when properly stuck, pull as hard as you can away from the stairs.
This should straighten your neck out proper. Don't let the anxiety get to you when you feel claustrophobic

Thanks. How long per session with the neck pro 2?

yep...I had the same shite...I eventually figured out that my pillow was making it a lot worse, so I sleep on a pillow that is much thinner now and mostly on my back...the idea is to keep your neck as flat as you can while you sleep.
I would recommend you seeing a doctor, as he can probably give you some exercises and some anti-inflammatory meds that will help a lot...
after that would be a PT or a chiropractor...
if it is still not better, there would be an injection or two...
last resort would be surgery to fix the problem...
don't let all of that stop you from seeing a doc, as I'd bet the meds and exercise will help a ton.

Go see a really good massage therapist. Your neck sounds worse than mine but when I get a bad catch in my neck from sleeping bad I get a massage and it lets up after a day or two.

Didn't you play college and pro football?

No, but when I registered, I just tried to think of an obscure LSU football name from my childhood. Eddie Ray did play for LSU and the Falcons in the very late '60s early 70s

Very possibly. Specifically, C6-7. The longer you wait to do something about it, the less your chance of a complete recovery will be.

PT here. Sounds like disc bulge with c5 or c6 nerve root irritation. Was there a trauma involved? How old are you? PT for traction probably a good way to go but I'd go see someone as there are a few quick tests to make sure you are safe for traction before you just jump in there.
