So why is it illegal to claim the gold? Is it because it's on polish government property, or does it somehow belong people that will claim the nazis stole it from.
If it's the last option, what's the time frame on stolen gold being up for grabs? I mean if I found a shipwreck from 1400s with some gold is Spain coming after me, or some family looking up there heritage on ancestry.com to try to claim it? I'm pretty sure somewhere in history that nazi gold was looted from a ransacked civilization multiple times before the Jews ended up with it. How far do we trace it back
I would dump all the gold in international waters. Claim I found gold there and melt it as quickly as possible and tell everyone to frick off. If they want it they should go look for it

this was a massive operation with all the concentration camps, not to mention art and other items
some soldiers likely pocketed some items but not the bulk of it
