Here's one taken of Lake McDonald and the Sprague Fire, captured the other morning (not my photo):

quote:

The Northern Lights danced over the Sprague Fire in Glacier National Park around 3:45 am last night. It was eerily beautiful! Unfortunately it appears that the fire is growing, even during the night. Sperry Chalet has been evacuated and there's no rain in the forecast. For those that don't know, those [hills below the] mountains tower up to 6,000 feet above Lake McDonald for scale. Please feel free to share!

Glacier

Busiest national park of the season. I spoke to one of the chiefs in a meeting yesterday afternoon and they are contemplating on placing a reservation system to visit the park in the future.

What do y'all use to upload photos now that Photobucket is unusable?

Scruffy has some pics of Alaska and Glacier Bay.

Got a bunch on my home puter, but I'm at work so I'm stuck with old, less quality pics.

Glacier Bay

Other people's pics

Bartlett Cove is about 50 miles from here by air or water. Glacier Bay covers about 3 million acres, the East Arm is closed off for scientific purposes, West arm is open to cruise ships, pleasure craft, kayakers, etc.

Highest coastal mountain range in the world. They had a moderate quake last night in GB and we felt it here. They also have some of the most massive landslides in the world.

Push your reps. Environmentalists are already trying to limit access to many areas of our parks. They're pricing the average guy out of many areas. Some of our parks need more recreational areas to disburse the crowds instead of limiting access.
