A lot of single family homes were destroyed and families displaced in that area. Yeah it could use some improvement and development, but saying it “needed a tornado” is just you being a heartless prick.

Damn. Did not know that. Or any other favorite restaurants or bars we go to for that matter. Of course that pales in comparison to people losing their homes.
We live south of there and are not sure what all has been damaged other than what you see on the news. A lot of streets are closed off to through traffic.

Seems you assumed that people with little morals are of a specific color. Shame on you.

How do you get your "improvement and development" from a neighborhood that is actively fighting to stay poor and specifically black leading to "cars getting broken into". Natural disasters force investments into the neighborhood. Homes destroyed and families displaced is very sad, but so is the property and lives lost to drugs and crime stemming from that neighborhood.

The fact that your mind immediately jumped to racism proves that you are the racist one here.

the point you are making is there, but you could not have picked a worse way to present it. how you are approaching the subject makes you look like a colossal prick.

I think people are just misinterpreting it. Absence of tone.
Posted on 3/4/20 at 1:37 pm to StripedSaint
sorry man, but i gotta disagree with you. they are interpreting it the way you typed it - which was as tactfully a wrong way to make the point as you can get.
like i said - there are better ways to make the point, than basically saying the area hit, deserved a tornado. cause it did not - nowhere does.

You are making my point. I did not say it negatively "deserved" a tornado. I said "needed" to push investment into the neighborhood. The vast majority of houses need to be "torn down" and rebuilt/"reinvested". Tall and skinnys, two to a plot is much better than what is currently there.

you aren't gettign the point - let me say it this way.
saying an area of a city needs to find ways to spur development and reinvestment int he community to better everyone's lives is one thing.
however
you said:
how the frick are people not supposed to take what you actually typed in a negative light? people are going to read what you type, and the words you use, and read into that what you are trying to say - and the way you presented your point came across massively fricked up, and made you look like a total fricking a-hole.

Because it was an immediate response to a comment about the neighborhood's crime problem and its relation to investing in the neighborhood after the tornado hit it?
This is a message board, not a thesis. My feelings aren't hurt that it was misinterpreted and I have further explained the intent. I'll be okay.
