To be fair, they’re not at risk of being delisted for having an all white male board. They just have to disclose it and explain it.

How do board leftists defend this garbage?

Bingo. Cut out the Amazon and Walmart-like purchases. Buy at local grocery stores or hit up the farmer markets.
I used to buy everything online. The past couple of years I have changed in my thought process and prefer everything local. I also have a little garden going and some chickens laying eggs. It doesn't save a ton of money but it is fresh and the kids really get a kick out of helping me out.
Keep as much of your money in your community as you can.

Post modernism destroyed the value of credentials.
If truth is relative, then studies become an exercise in political propaganda.
I may trust people, but I don’t trust degrees or institutions. They’re no longer a good way to establish if someone’s work is meaningful.
Diversity is negatively correlated with trust. We’re just animals, and If we come from different cultures, it’s harder for us to understand and predict each others behavior.
We’re operating under different rules. And rules that are invisible to us.
This undermines trust.
Our animal brain can’t be sure who’s potentially dangerous, and who isn’t, and under what circumstances someone could be dangerous.
The more homogenous a group, be it a small team, or a town, or even a state. The healthier it is. And the better the outcome.

There are a number of reasons people push these policies.
I think one of them is, they want to replace you.
Eventually, these policies will not be tools to put the weak into positions of power, but they will be ways to deny the formerly powerful access to good jobs or political office.

We own a local retail business and my wife is president of our local merchant group. We buy everything locally unless we just can't find it here.
There's been a concerted effort to crush small business with the COVID response.

you've been shite on routinely on the Auburn board about this, but I just want you to know I am sorry for you and your plight; and that the government has taken these ridiculous and fruitless measures that invariably and permanently alter the landscape of small business.
it's some of the most rage inducing policy I've ever seen that will ultimately accomplish nothing except create ruin and despair

They need to break up the monopolies the current exchanges have. They're used to be a lot more stock exchanges prior to a few decades ago.

Absolutely true. We made sure to get out and do a lot of our Christmas shopping this year. Still hit up some big online sales, but the death of small businesses would be worse than anything the virus could possibly bring.

Under the proposal, the majority of companies will be required to have at least two diverse board directors: one woman, and one person who identifies as either an underrepresented minority or LGBTQ. If a company cannot meet these requirements, it will need to explain why.
Cute.
