I don't know. That is why I said I was curious. If it doesn't affect your beliefs then you answered my question.

I'm catholic. It wouldn't affect mine. I'm not exactly a bible scholar though.

I'm a Baptist. It wouldn't effect mine.

OUr civilization has existed in state capable of at least sending communications to aliens for only the past ~100 years.
That's a miniscule fraction of time.
It is highly likely we will destroy ourselves within the next few hundred years. I doubt that situation is unique, either.
It could be the norm that whenever advanced civilizations come into being, they quickly snuff their own selves out. If that is the case, we should expect the see plenty of life in the universe - but none worth having a conversation with.

It is highly likely the universe is full of life and extremely unlikely life on Earth originated on Earth.

God is creating everyday. New species, newborn babies.
The development of an organism is a physical process. A remarkable one for sure, but at the same time, so ordinary. You have to look hard to find a square inch on this planet that is sterile.
BTW, if "god" is creating all those newborn babies, he's also killing something like 70% of those poor zygotes and later stages that end in what we call "spontaneous abortion". No matter what we do, he will always stay ahead, far, far ahead. And then there are the ones he should've killed, who can't live, but probably were the inspiration for things like the Cyclops mythology, and then there are the anecephalic ones, etc. If I were personally supervising all this as "the creator", I'd like to think I wouldn't be so damn sloppy, though I guess it might be fun to troll the peons, and it would help relieve the boredom of infinity.

I believe it is highly unlikely we will destroy ourselves but it is highly likely that we will be destroyed by some anamoly within the next few thousand years. Could be next month or could be 2,000 years from now as either is not even the blink of an eye to our planet or the universe.

I agree with the latter, not the former. If we somehow escape self destruction - a natural event will likely wipe out civilization.
Though when I say "destroy" I mean civilization - not literally killing all humans. I mean enough catastrophe that we cease to broadcast to other intelligent beings. All it really takes is one lunatic with a nuclear arsenal to bring it all down.

Fingers crossed on Eta Carinae.
