What is Philadelphia’s identity outside of cheesesteak and Liberty Bell?
I thought about mentioning Philadelphia but I haven't spent all that much time there. What it offers to someone who's been to NYC, Boston, and Baltimore escapes me. Pittsburgh, on the other hand, is pretty unique.

Haha honestly haven’t heard much love for Arvada before but I agree that’s a great area, especially for quick trips to the mountains!

I’ve lived in several of the cities mentioned here (Houston, Jacksonville, Greensboro, Raleigh) and visited many more.
Houston is a unique place. Weird seeing a factory next to a neighborhood. It’s huge. Not everyone’s cup of tea, but dull isn’t an adjective I’d use to describe it.
Greensboro NC (while nowhere near a million people) is one of the dullest places of its size. In the 70s/80s they had the largest coliseum between Norfolk and Atlanta so the biggest acts always stopped there. Other than that it was Dullsville USA.
Indianapolis and Columbus seemed bland.
Today cities seem more alike than they used to be. Part of the fun of visiting places was the food and experiences you could only get at that specific place, now you can go to Top Golf and eat at the same chain you can anywhere. IMO that’s why the newer south cities like Charlotte and Jacksonville don’t have a unique identity.

Philly has an identity. I'm not sure if it's good since they're well known as assholes who want to frick with everyone, but that city has a clear identity that separates it from other cities.

Philly's a-hole reputation is well deserved in my experience. I've been there 8-10 times. Sure, there are some nice people and I've never really spent a lot of time in the burbs, but overall stereotypes exist for a reason.

If you have no problem describing the average person in a city, then that city has an identity. Philly is certainly in the Top 10 of cities with an identity, and it is carefully explained to you in "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia".

I mean at least Massholes in Boston really appreciate a sharp tongue. If you talk enough bullshite with them and can pull it off, they'll buy you a beer. Philly is all about the fight and not the exchange of wits. I got challenged to 3 fights in 6 months living there for ridiculous reasons in every other city in the country.
Like I was in a sports bar watching an Ole Miss game once, I saw some Eagles fans around their friend who is a Miami fan, and I said "Go Miami" since I hated Jameis Winston and they were playing Florida State. Their reply was Ole Miss was the biggest pussy school in the country and then shortly after that Florida State scored a touchdown and they wanted to meet me in the parking lot since I jinxed them. Philly people are fricking nuts and violent. They got that identity, and I wouldn't piss on that city if it were on fire.
Bill Burr's epic shitting all over Philly proves it has an identity. It's probably the greatest comedic rant of all time. Say what you want about Philly, because there is a lot to say about, but lack of identity isn't one of their problems. It is that identity that is their problem: Bill Burr vs All of Philadelphia

Memphis and Baton Rouge get shite on here relentlessly and rightfully so, but they in no way are dull with no identity
other than the college football scene Baton rouge is a fricking wasteland. Memphis is pretty awful too.

That is not a city.

Los Angeles
Los Angeles has an identity and its being fricking soulless. No city quite sucks the soul out of you like Los Angeles. It's like a Dementor.

Orlando
White trash central. It's where white criminals come to die. Definitely has an identity.

Gatlinburg
A place with 4,000 people? What a pathetic list this was.

Fresno isn’t good but there are definitely worse. Bakersfield and Stockton are dogshit.

Both are definitely worse. Granted I think Fresno is in the conversation with cities without an identity.

My list
1. Houston Texas
What do you want it to do? Sit down and play Monopoly with you? Tell you jokes? Juggle lemons?
Houston has EVERYTHING to do. If anything, that IS it's identity. Sorry that it doesn't have a bunch of queers and red bridge like San Francisco.
At least a 2 br house isn't $1.4 million here.
