They make you put your phones in a locker at the one in Kenner. Can't believe they charge $30-40 for that shite. I normally just put my head on the desk, and wait for them to stop talking.
The worst one to take is Mosaic in St James. 75% of the hour long video is them talking about how they are in compliance with government regs. No idea why these companies can't just give you a pamphlet of what you need at the end of it, but whatever, I'm not some idiot safety guy or lawyer

That was brutal.
Good news. You get to do an hour refresher every year and an hour for each site specific every year.
OSHA regulations require an hour of classroom time per year and the Safety Council saw a great scam when it was in front of them. That's why you have to sit there through their bullshite.
If it was really just about safety, the operating companies wouldn't be paying the Safety Council all that money for their scam year in and year out. They would just give their employees the safety test every year and send you for remediation only if you fail it. It's all about the government mandated hours and the trough of money associated with them.
Look at the facilities the Safety Council builds and the product they actually provide and tell me someone isn't getting filthy rich here.

Really? They only tell you 3 times before you in the computer lab to turn your phone off.
2. Didn't nobody tell me to turn off my phone - and I'm not sure I'd know how to do it anyway (although I did see one of those true-crime shows where I learned you're supposed to make sure your phone is off before you dump your wife's body in the desert).

If someone later gets hurt, the plant safety people can say, "We sent these d*mn contractors to safety training. So obviously it was beyond our control."
Disclaimer: I don't think the foregoing applies to Exxon. But a lot of the smaller plants (especially those that have been purchased by hedge funds) don't have a strong safety culture and are just "checking the boxes."
