I’ll call her bluff. Here’s my credentials. My face is well known around here. This was me sometime in the late 80s or early 90s. If you’re wondering why I’m not wearing the normal woodland pattern BDUs, I was a tanker and wore tanker’s Nomex uniform.

After setting the headspace and timing gauge on an M2 Machine Gun, you need to pull the charging handle back until the bolt is fully locked to the rear. Once the bolt is fully locked to the rear, you need to observe that the extractor has engaged the cartridge case rim, and the ejector has engaged the extractor groove.
Before twisting the barrel to the left, you should ensure that the barrel extension is properly engaged with the receiver and that the barrel locking lever is in the down position. Once you have confirmed this, you can twist the barrel to the left and release the charging handle to allow the bolt to go forward into battery.
