Is there a way to clean out this idiotic back and forth and just have a thread with updates?

It doesn’t matter. Having served in the military has zero bearing on this discussion one way or the other.

We can ban the dipshit responsible for derailing the thread.

M240 Combat Load As an M240 gunner, you can expect to carry a combat load of 600 rounds of 7.62 mm ammunition, which weighs approximately 9.6 lbs per 100 rounds.
Why in the hell are y’all arguing over an M240 machine gun? What does that have to do with anything about the Dadeville shooting? I’m quite certain they didn’t use a freaking M240.
And before you or anyone says anything. I’m very familiar with the M240 as we had two of them on the Abrams. I know the M240 in and out.

Not one single person has the slightest clue about why he brought that up. I honest to God think all he knows about guns is from Call of Duty®.

Look I wasn't in the military but its been discussed plenty that weight and cost are major factors in the 5.56 choice. You are right, its not a ton. But it is there. Between the gun and ammo you are talking about removing 5-10lbs. Thats a fricking lot man.
1.6 lbs isn't much if you're walking from the truck to the range. If your having to pack a ruck sack up the side of a mountain 1.6 lbs can be a drag. Never been in the military but talked to guys in Seals and SF. They look for anything to shed weight. Some of these guys can be out for days even weeks at a time. These guys said ozs matter.
The 75th Ranger regiment that looked for Marcus Latrell were out in the mountains for 3 weeks before they found him.

That’s cool and all but it’s still holds zero relevance to the discussion.

I don't believe you have to go through the approval process, its considered antique.
Our resident pussy might stroke out.

But if you wanted a 30 round clip you pull a round out to break the linkage.

Of course you don't. You haven't understood anything this entire thread.

I have a 1944 German Mauser. It kicks like a damned mule and a crack shot at 125 out. Back when I would shoot often, I’d tape a CD(back when you just picked up fist fills of free AOL cds) and could pretty accurately keep my shots inside of the data part of the disk. Half-dollar groupings at 125 with an 80 year old iron sight rifle

What weapon are you talking that takes a 30 round clip?
Are you talking about the WWI era Hotchkis machine gun the French used or the Type 92 machine gun the Japanese used in WWII? Those are the only 30 round “clip” that I can think of.
