I am going to give you an upvote, because this means something to you.
With that being said, I do not care and you should not either. I have lived in Dallas for 22 years, I just found out we had a Robert Lee statue.
How we treat each other moving forward is far more important than monuments to our sins of the past. The media and activist are creating the wrong conversations for their benefit, not the people.

It is a red herring that distract that subset of the populace who are pre-disposed to support the effort. It rallies the troops and coalesces them around an issue.
In short, it is a huge "get out the vote" initiative for the Democrats.
