Bergen county one of the wealthiest counties in America and wealthier than anything Louisiana has ever had to offer.

Camden, NJ didn't seem too nice, right across the river from Philly. Looked like the slums too me, but parts of NJ are nice. My uncle lived around the Delaware border, seemed decent.

Congrats on judging an entire state on one area. You're obviously a very cultured and open minded person. Cape May is a beautiful beach town in southern New Jersey fyi

While it would be great to live in Princeton. The prop taxes are beyond crazy.

I think most people commute from PA for this reason. What's southeastern PA like?

Newark and Gary,Indiana are at about the same level, but New Jersey and Indiana are both nice states otherwise.

What? In China Town and ate at a Mickey D's…WTF. Little Italy is close by. Who the frick drives around when you can catch the line from the airport right into the heart of NYC? And GPS to Burger King?

Princeton, NJ is about as nice as you can get anywhere in America.

It's the second-wealthiest state in America. There are beautiful and wealthy areas all over the place.

I don't particularly care for the people who live there or the culture of the place, but places like New Jersey and Maryland have like ten zip codes each that could shove their cash down the throats of the wealthiest place in the southeast with many pennies to spare. That's where all the DB lacrosse players are raised.

Well, staying by the airport, at the courtyard Marriott. Got in late, the family wanted something quick, problem is there is NOTHING around the hotel, not a 7-eleven, not a grocery store, I mean NOTHING. So decided to GPS directions to the nearest BK, big mistake. Got took through the hood, and this hood makes most blush with shame. Bad thing is, when we finally got to BK, pulled up to the drive thru, and the lady says that before I order, they were out of whoppers, fries and chicken. Lol, it was an epic fail on so many levels.

Again, don't know about all the nice spots in the state, and probably won't, as I think I will avoid Jersey in the future. Just from what I've seen, everything has been a crap hole, with the exception of some sections of road on the turnpike. I'm sure there are probably better places, but it sure isn't around here. I don't think there is anywhere I've ever seen in GA or FLA or much of the South for that matter, that is in as bad of shape as Newark and the surrounding area here is.

With all that money floating around, if there is that much wealth, they really should have much better roads to ride and drive on. Especially with all the tolls they charge.

They may have more money in certain areas, but the south has way better roads, and is at least decent pretty much everywhere. ( maybe Montgomery Alabama notwithstanding ).

Lawrenceville is where Lawrenceville Prep is located, right? Then yeah, Princeton would be a terrific choice. However, another option could be to go further south. My aunt teaches in Princeton and lives in Moorestown (35 minute drive or so), which is a perfect little town. It might a little cheaper than Princeton as well.

Moorestown is located near Cherry Hill and only 20 minutes or so from Philly.

Cape May is fantastic, but hours away from Newark.

Tolls are stupid, but you have to factor weather and traffic. The NJ turnpike gets probably double or triple the traffic that most other interstates get. Not only does the cold and frost damage roads, they can only work six months a year on the roads as well (and you're there at the beginning of the construction period when most issues haven't been addressed).

Indiana has great local government and well-funded logistics programs, but even their roads north of Indianapolis suck. When I lived in Washington (another well-run state), the roads there are terrible in places because the terrain is damn rugged, and the roads get a lot of traffic in the Seattle area.

Utah has the best roads in the country, but they get like no traffic at all on them outside of the SLC area.

I'm a southerner born and raised, but I would disagree that the south is at least decent pretty much everywhere. Memphis, the Mississippi Delta, Baton Rouge, New Orleans, large sections of Atlanta, Jackson, Savannah, Little Rock, and on and on all have large sections of the city that are gobholes. Hell, pretty much all of the poorest counties in America are either native reservations or in the southeast.

There's a reason why it was cheap. You should have done your research. Hoboken is fine. And it's cheap and easy to get to the city from there too.
