That is a mezzo sax...exceedingly rare. What you have looks like an alto sax. It’s old but pretty common. Interestingly I bought my 1st sax from Werlein’s.

Plus, if someone is going to forge a DiMaggio autograph, they aren’t going to put it on an index card. They gonna forge a baseball card, photograph, etc.

They will forge signatures on any surface, but for a few bucks ... why not?

A good friend has a fantastic collection of historical documents. He says at least 50% of the non-authenticated autographs are fake. He'll pull up a celeb's autograph listings on eBay and show all the different styles of writing LOL

And for $200, I bought this very old Werlein’s silver alto saxophone.

Back in the day, I could spend DAYS in the old Werlein's on Canal Street.

His M almost always invades the D (as in the legit example in your post).

From PSA:

"DiMaggio was a huge target for forgers. Collectors should be aware there are many clubhouse DiMaggio signatures on team-signed items in the marketplace. In addition, DiMaggio’s sister allegedly signed fan mail for him during the 1970s and 1980s, and even signed his checks on rare occasions. It is well known that DiMaggio refused to sign anything Monroe-related after her death, but some autograph seekers tricked the legendary Yankee into autographing these items by masking their appearance."

Ironically, there was a guy named Jim DiMaggio who set up J. DiMaggio and Associates authentication services. He served 7 months in the federal pen for fake certifications of autographs.

I had an Alfred Hitchcock autograph that was DiMaggio authenticated. I thought "this is a loss." An online check certified it as fake (PSA). I sent it in because it was borderline, and it turned out to be legit.

I stick to court documents that are clerk certified and PSA certified.

COA's that are no good

ETA: There was a place on Royal that sold autographs. About 60% were legit (had a lot of J. DiMaggio authentications).

It is known that Joe D's sister signed autographs for fan mail requests. Could be her handwriting.

how much is the sax worth?
Subjective.

But I've been lucky with ladies: the worst I ever had was still pretty good.

Oops, misread your question, please disregard.

LINK - eBay

They were asking $300. I know nothing about musical instruments. I offered $200 and they took it. I found the one on eBay a little while ago.

Curious, if you know nothing about musical instruments, what let you to bid $200 rather than say, $50? Where they asking much more? Also, how do you know the autographs are real or not? If not, obviously wasted money. I would be suspicious when someone is selling so many of them so cheaply.
