Imagine being THIS unaware.

If your wife is threatening to leave if you don't stop drinking immediately, you're an alcoholic.

My ex1 counted my beers at a tailgate or party and would go fricking crazy on me when we got home if I had more than 6 or 7. We were in our 20s.

Ex2 would call me a pussy for drinking so few. And she'd get piss drunk.

Perspective matters.

Bingo! My ex1 almost had me thinking I was an alcoholic for a couple years there.

"you seriously drank a whole 6 pack of beer during that wedding shower? Not everything is an excuse for you to get drunk. "

Oh man that gives me the heebie jeebies just remembering it.

Was in your shoes recently, well not the wife part but I was getting drunk every day.

April 29th 2019 I took my last drink and have been sober since. It’s hard to quit but if you know you have a problem, which it seems like you know you do, it’s best to make that decision to quit. It’s hard and you’ll have times where you’ll really want a drink but fight the temptation.

My birthday is on Tuesday and even 18 months in I find myself saying 1 drink to celebrate isn’t bad. But just know 1 will quickly turn into 2 and you’ll be right back Where you started.

Canabis will fix your situation my friend. Get on it ASAP. Basically just substitute the alcohol for cannabis and you will be thriving.

2 drinks per day for men is recommendation for the so called experts so what does 3 do to you? A bottle of wine is practically 3 drinks... OP is BS unless he just treats his wife like shite anytime he drinks or he his drinking way more than he wants to admit

Like others have said:

1. Stop buying alcohol.
2. Talk to your wife and decide what y’all want to do.
3. Quit drinking. Stop for at least a pre-agreed on period of time and re-evaluate later. Set rules for what the procedure will be if you start drinking again inside of that time frame and include trustworthy friends or family in that plan.

It’s easy for people to say “I’m not gonna drink for 3 months” and then decide 2 weeks in that they want to share a bottle of wine with their wife. You have to commit to your plan, and be willing to deal with the consequences if you don’t.

If you want to be married, stop drinking now.
