Did this last night except smoke 2 packs of Marlboro 100s
I used to smoke a couple of packs of Marlboro reds when I drank copious amounts of Dewar's White Label on the rocks in bars. I haven't smoked in over 4 years now. I kinda miss the cigarettes more than the Dewar's now. But neither are a good choice for me.

We need more of an explanation of this if you haven’t already.

Good luck man. This is actually a topic where the OT can give advice.

Phew, I do NOT miss cigarettes. I would 100% vomit if I tried to smoke one now. And to think I had 5-10 a day when I was younger.

real alcoholic here, have since recovered but when I was at my peak a bottle of wine was the warm up. It's a progressive thing so be careful. If you ever start drinking in the mornings by yourself that's pretty much when I'd say get some outside help.

She's mentioned it a few times to me. No worries, I tell her you're under a lot of stress and encourage her to be understanding.

I’ve gotten hammered pretty much every weekend for the last few months and drink usually 2-3 drinks during the week at night.
I'm close to the same, except I cut myself off before I get hammeted on the weekend and set a hard limit of two drinks on a work night.
Just dial it back.
Also, I set a cut off time of 7 PM, so no drinks past that time unless its a vacation or special occasion.

I smoked for a very long time and I smoked a lot. I haven't had a cigarette since July 2, 2016, but to this day if I pass by someone who has just lit up a cig I inhale pretty hard. On the other hand, stale cigarette smoke is pretty rank.
I was walking today (trying to work off some of the weight I put on since the gyms closed down due to the COVID). As I walked I thought about how I fell back into eating poorly once I stopped seeing a personal trainer 3x a week because the gym closed and realized that just like I cannot stop eating chocolate (until the box is done) I cannot drink alcohol or smoke cigarettes until the bottle or pack is empty.
I enjoyed smoking and drinking for a long time. I hope I never go back to either.

Agree. Just dial it back. If you ever feel like an alcoholic, go to one AA meeting and feel ashamed at your lack of consumption/debauchery.
Posted on 8/15/20 at 7:48 pm to LintLicker
Look, jokes aside, the volume of your consumption isn't really what matters. It's the recent, progressive increase, the every-weekend binge drinking, and the "horrible decisions" and "stupid shite" you do, then regret (I assume), while drinking. If your wife is to the point of threatening to leave you, either she's a literal Puritan, or you have problem. Which means you almost certainly have a problem. Quit drinking.
Sorry if this sounds harsh. I went down a similar path 3 years ago. Now I only drink 1-2 beers on special occasions, like 3-4 times a year. I don't keep alcohol in the house. I am extraordinarily happier and feel much better physically too.

Well you might not consider yourself one, but all the evidence certainly begs to differ.

How much would you drink on a daily basis?

Do speed responsibly instead. Use it only twice a day, so you can sleep at night. It will make you a superhuman.
