Hey guys I'm an CPA. Please praise me for the many long hours I am forced to work every busy season. I definitely didn't sign up for this!

Still going with it, huh? You may be the most bitter person I've seen here with regard to nurses. Had a nurse cheat on you or something?
I’m the most bitter? I don’t think so by a long shot. You just seem to remember me from the thread yesterday.
I haven’t once claimed all they do is make tic toc videos, claimed they are all sluts, or said nurses aren’t highly trained medical professionals worthy of respect.
I only stated they were trained medical professionals doing their jobs.

Not sure what's funny about that. Not all nurses (and other med professionals) signed on to work in infectious disease. Not everyone working COVID units signed on for that kind of job, no matter how much you tell yourself otherwise.

Kudos to the nurses!

It's almost as if they picked literally any other profession they wouldn't be in the mess! It's really super confusing. You guys just don't get it!

Your wives, fiancees and girlfriends are action hero badass, sir.
My wife worked at the bedside in A level 1 trauma unit for many years and regularly performed many of the actions you describe. She understood the importance of her work, as did I, but at no point did we consider her actions heroic. She was doing her job!! People, including health care workers, need to understand they are doing their job. That's it!

I was in OLOL last septemember for internal bleeding. had a TIPS procedure done. The nurses who over saw my care were awesome. I believe many of these nurses work 12 hour shifts. I felt so much love being cared for. I received four units of blood in two weeks. I became anemic and my nurse, Hala, walked the halls with me as I tried to get my strength back. Wonderful people !

My ex wife is a nurse. I didn't become "lucky beyond words" until I booted her lazy arse to the curb.
I have always given credit to ICU and ER nurses, the rest don't do and deal with near as much. L&D nurses are a freaking joke.

This person continually misquotes me. I said you are taught about dealing with infectious things like HIV and Tuberculosis, but nobody ever gets a course in "your gonna get caught up in a pandemic, or dirty bomb aftermath, so quit now if you don't want to be a part of it"
This pandemic is extreme and unexpected, and hard for some Nurses and Medical Professionals to walk through....
Do you think the dead firefighters on 911 ever were trained for 2 planes to hit the WTC and that the damn things would collapse? Nope..but they bravely did their jobs and lost their lives. That was outside the realm of anything they trained for or expected.
So many of you on here who don't give one minute of your lives in service to others are full of hate. That hate comes back to you. You better just hope its not when you, or one of your dying kids needs a Nurse the most...
Why don't you guys go on to something worth being assholes about....like China lying and causing this terror.

As a retired nurse(male) I have been following these “hating on the nurse”threads with interest.I would say give the nurses a break.Being a bedside nurse is the hardest job in the hospital,it’s mentally, emotionally and physically exhausting. At the same time,it’s one of the least respected jobs in the hospital. They certainly don’t get any respect or appreciation from administration,Actually, administrators resent nurses as they are considered non-revenue producers and a drag on profits.
At one time nurses were valued and respected,When I first started,Director of Nurses and Head Nurses wore uniforms and made rounds. They would actually help a bedside nurse clean poop or maybe put down a ng tube. They morphed into Vice Presidents and Unit Managers. We rarely saw them and if you did, forget about them touching a patient. The VP’s were the worst, they strut around in heels and business dress with their coiffed hair,They usually wouldn’t speak or even acknowledge our existence.
We had orderlies and aides to help with the physical aspects and they did away with them,We had EKG techs and Phlebotomists.Did away with them also.Need an EKG or lab work drawn ,do it yourself. At the same time, patients became sicker with more co-morbities.They also became heavier,300-400 lb.patients became common.
It is getting harder to find bedside nurses, they leave to become NP’s or get an easier job.
I saw some excellent young nurse leave because they couldn’t handle the physical aspects of the job.
The ones that stay are of two types, one group have strong ego’s and get their self satisfaction from a job well done. They don’t need appreciation from administration (they’re not going to get it anyway). The other group are more fragile, they need encouragement and validation and when they don’t get it they get discouraged. It becomes just a job and they do just enough to get by and try to get through the day.
My point is,they are many nurses that feel unappreciated. The Covid 19 epidemic has put the spotlight on them and they are feeling valued.Maybe a little too much but its somewhat understandable, from my perspective.
