You know I thought the same thing before I saw them and while I guess they could move like that they did not tonight. It was more of it was there for 15-30 seconds then gone. Then popped up in another area of the sky and on and on for about 45 minutes. It would just be very bright for 15-30 seconds then just dissipate and form somewhere else. Very very cool either way. Hopefully it's not the last time on the trip we see them but if it is it has already satisfied all my wants on our vacation.

Ahhh. It snow blowing across the road. Wind was around 25-30 mph today. Probably closer to 40-50 in that part of the island. It was pushing out suv all over the road. Very cold during the day until the wind stopped. Then I just wore a hoodie and temperature was around 35.

Not bad at all. I've always wanted to see the northern lights. Enjoy

I hope this looked more impressive in person.
Usually do. It's not easy to photograph and get great quality

also, I have a question about the northern lights. When I see them on tv, they seem to be moving much more quickly than I would expect...almost like the tv speeded them up to make them look cool. was there a lot of movement when you saw them?
It's usually time lapse photography.

Kinda wish people would post their vacation pics more often. I like these kinda threads. Thanks for sharing. Looks amazing even if you did take these with a potato.

Searched? You find an open area with a large view of the sky and wait.

He's got a lot of light pollution, which makes it hard to see in a photo.

Those pics make me want to go visit with the kids. We have similar visuals in Missouri city but not near as awesome.
