The sad part is that all the kids thought they didnt need to work hard to become wealthy. They didnt know the show was showing fake riches

I'm not trying to be mean here, but how would a sane person ever believe it's real?
that show came out when I was like 15. 25 years ago before everything on TV was fake, I don't see why it's such a shock to think a teenager watching a show about multi millionare celebrities having expensive million dollar homes is such a leap of imagination

The Real World may have been the beginning of the end, but it debuted in 1992 (Road Rules in 1995). The era of reality shiftiness was a decade later, in the 00s.
MTV actually produced a lot of great non-music TV in the 90s. Beavis and Butthead, Daria, Liquid Television, The State, True Life, Singled Out, Loveline, The Tom Green Show, The Head, The Maxx, etc.
History of MTV Programming
Just look at the explosion of shite in the 00s.
Yeah, but when they found the marathons of past seasons of the reality shows goosed the rating all day, which came when they had tons of seasons to play... that was the real end of music programming there... now it is a network that just palys marathons of reruns... its own shows and things from other networks it buys the rights to...

and there are several MTV and VH-1 channels now that only play music... split into specific genres... go looking high up in your cable channels and you'll find them... but they aren't very popular.
Another factor that just drummed music out of the main channel was YouTube, which was meant as a way to share family videos with relatives over the internet, but people instantly started uploading music and concert and comedy vids and it exploded in that use. So it became MTV that YOU programmed.

Silkk Da Shocker definitely lived down the street. No Limit owned that house. Snoop temporarily lived there too.
No Limit owned a few of the condos/apartments behind Citiplace on Corporate... friends who worked at the Movie Theater and Barnes & Noble and Macaroni Grill would run into somebody or other all the time.

If you want to see some real celebrity cribs,,, check out the Architectural Digest channel on youtube.
Lenny has a bunch of episodes... he was a rich kid at birth and has refined tastes, and owns furniture and interior design companies...
the Walton Goggins episodes are great, too

Watch the No Limit documentary on BET. The whole operation (business and studios) were run out of an office building on Corporate. It was just like a law office with a recording setup in each room.
