For undergrad, absolutely. Taking all things (including grad school) into consideration, I'd rather go the Williams -> Yale route. Or Stanford everything.

Sucks for you. I spent my college years in Hamden. Place blows.

I’ll support the other comments regarding New Haven being run down and unsafe. My company provided housing while I was working there in a not so desirable neighborhood near Yale. We relocated to Milford after a couple of months. The commute into New Haven wasn’t bad. The pizza is great and you are close to many interesting places you’d probably never visit living in the south. I didn’t enjoy it enough to stay permanently but between New York, Boston and countless small town fairs and festivals someone should be able to enjoy it for a couple years.

sure you have a warm coat (a pea coat looks nice and keeps you warm).

if you can afford it, also own a down jacket. Zippable hood.
Opens at bottom too.

Below 20 degrees and a stiff breeze that pea jacket is not even close to enough.

Once or twice a week its going to be ski jacket day.
Sometimes a week on end.

Pea jacket is fine for 38 degrees.

Don't go cheap on The few winter clothes that make life bearable.

You should think about what you could wear to take a walk when its 12 degrees on Saturday morning. Be able to go out without it being an ordeal.

The average daily low Feb 1 is 23. There will be lots of rain and 40s. Have rain gear.

New haven averages 31 inches of snow.

I love the sound. Someone you work with fishes. Its not deep. Flounder. Yummy.

I live 45 minutes from New Haven. Its pretty bad and has really rough parts. People carry weapons all the time and if your white, I would too for safety. GOODLUCK. I wouldn't ever live there

Too add. Great pizza and bars, No one cares about college football. Winters are super cold. Snows a lot. 1 hour and 15 minutes from NY and 2 hours from Boston which is a plus.

Anybody have any experience living in CT? Any tips for dealing with winter other than the obvious?

I was stationed in groton. You'll love the Summers and Autumn up there

Take advantage of their parks to hike. Beautiful trails. I believe one even has a small castle

Mystic, CT is a decent little touristy town

Take the train to NYC

Get a vehicle with AWD. Honda CRV is a good one

Unless you live in the expensive suburbs just outside NY, Connecticut sucks.

You’d think new Haven would be really nice with Yale being there. But you’d think wrong. Enjoy the trashy townies.
