As an adult you should be carrying more insurance.

You can buy an inspection sticker on the street for $50. Sounds like a deal until you connect the dots. A vehicle is in terrible shape and can’t legally get a sticker. But you get one on the street and guess what? You don’t need insurance because you’re probably not going to get pulled over since you have a sticker. Thus many many uninsured drivers and the price explodes.

Texas has the highest uninsured driver rate in the country.

That’s how I look at it here in Texas. Property taxes are killer but my three kids can go to good public school and the roads are smooth. That’s all we can hope for.

I don’t mind the higher property tax. Probably comes out as a wash when all is said and done about what the average individual pays but I NEVER see litter on the roads. I NEVER hit a pot hole. The schools here look nicer than Louisiana universities aside from LSU

It's always depressing seeing people from the south, or really any other part of the US, complaining about things like auto insurance and property taxes when you live in NJ.
I know it's all relative but you really don't know how good you have it.

Same. It’s because of all the uninsured drivers and the state’s refusal to enforce the requirement. So the law-abiding citizens get to pay for the criminals’ insurance. Same thing happens with healthcare but y’all lost y’all damn minds over Obamacare.
