I'd almost support blowing up the original if it meant never having to hear someone ask this question about more recent people, or to hear the phrase "who'd be on the Mt Rushmore of (fill in the blank with basketball, a team, or some other stupid idea)."

FDR: Lead US out of depression and to victory in WWII
MLK: obvious reasons
Reagan: his foreign policies sped the collapse of communism in Europe and USSR
can't think of a worthy fourth from the 20th/21st century. JFK was popular but did not have a significant impact on US history. You can argue George HW Bush not for his presidential term but for his entire lifetime body of work

Chose Bob Ross for my halloween costume this year. My research on the man informed me that he at one time was a drill instructor of sorts in the Air Force. When he got out he said he never wanted to yell at anyone ever again... began painting happy trees in Alaska and never looked back.
Fast forward to Saturday night/Sunday morning, and Bob Ross was kicked out of Dragons Den for being an a-hole. I feel as though I let Bob down.

FDR's track record and role in leading out of the depression is debatable, however, and will forever be debated.
