Why would somebody give their Wife a Mother's Day gift?

Unless the kiddos are babies and can't do it, but, then, Dad would be providing the gifts "From: The Kiddos"

I think I'm gonna take my mom to lunch or the movies or both or whatever she wants to do for a couple of hours.

Don't feel like dealing with any passive aggressive drama from my MIL so thinking maybe my husband and I split up for the day...he go to his parents...I go hang out with my mom.

My wife thinks wasting money on holidays and anniversaries is dumb.

I agree. I wouldn't spend that much money (2 X $100 jeans + $200 Costas = $400) on just anything, but I know Mommy will wear them. We both wear the same jeans, and I know her size.

I hate having to pick out gifts for my parents. They have everything they want.

I guess I'll try to do some sentimental BS.

It is difficult sometimes. I always try to get them either:

a) Something they already have that they could use more of.

or

b) Something they don't know they want.

Putting a garden in front my parents house. So I doubled up with Mother's Day and Father's day.

PSA to the newly married men new to Mother's Day: Do not spend more on your mother than you do for your wife's gift (from your child).

Don't mention it, amigos.

My wife once asked me if I was getting her something for Mother's Day. I just laughed. She acted sorta ticked off.

So then I asked her if I got her something, could I exchange that day for her birthday, Valentines Day, Christmas, or an anniversary gift?

She's never asked again since.
