I mean, I didn't have to even try to make a case, we were both on the same page from the start that it would just be us and the medical personnel.

I don't mean the mother is going to deliver the child, I meant how to handle the lady that she raised when she is going through the most excruciating pain she will ever experience in her life and he is going to be nervous, too.

Lots of men never step foot in a delivery room. My dad waited outside.

Personally, it wouldn't bother me a bit. To each his own, though.

I didn't go with my wife. I don't want to see that shite. Just bring me the kid after it's cleaned up

Your poor wife. She married an a-hole who couldn't be bothered to be with her in the biggest moment of her life.

I probably would have vomited all over the floor. She had an emergency c section. She actually didn't want me to go either.

My in laws were in there with a fricking camera that would make a Japanese tourist jealous.

I had to ask them to leave. And the wife agreed with me so they complied.

I agree. It’s too much to take in. Most guys I know did not set foot in the delivery room.

Well you should have said that first. Your initial post didn't make you look so favorable.

C sections look like a scene from Aliens fwiw. Watch one and you will totally get why the new mom needs a lot more time to recover than a regular vaginal birth.

TWSS during conception, so you probably should be there to see it through.

zip it, nurse. It's just a flesh wound.

I don't know if they even do this show anymore...but Womans used to host Birth Day Live every year. It was a big honor for the hospital to host it. Never got the women that ok'd being on the show because you would end up with a whole camera crew of men all up in the delivery room with a view of your vagina now. Not worth it to me for the basket of goodies you got for being on the show.

I was 2 feet away for wife's emergency c-section... watched doc reach in and pull them out. Would have helped of needed.

Then again, I'm a bit more man than most.

You're a nurse. Y'all are a different breed when it comes to that. My mother is a nurse as well and was with my wife during the c section. It was no big deal to her. I'm honestly not sure I'd want to see a regular birth either.

I’d say up until recently it would be weirder for you to be in the room.

Used to be just the womenfolk in there while the men smoked cigars and drank.

I had to watch a few as part of my orientation to Womans. Never realized how brutal they can really be.

I always laugh when I hear a woman say she is gonna schedule her c section cause she thinks it is so much easier than a vaginal delivery. It is still surgery and requires more time to recover afterwards. And you will likely be in more pain afterwards.

Ours definitely wasn't voluntary. My baby girl kept turning upside down. My wife was in labor for almost 20 hrs before they realized she had turned again. My daughter had hip displasia (sp) due to being breach and had to wear a harness for several months after she was born. She's the starting goalie on the soccer team now so no long term issues.

Lemme guess. Your wife tells her mom EVERYTHING and talks to her at least once a day?

Yeah man, it’s so weird for people to be close to their parents. How dare she talks to her mom on the phone everyday.

Until the last 10 or so years, the father in the delivery room was actually "weird."

Childbirth for almost all of human history has been an event in which women attended
