I've been to Key West a few times but never took the boat to the Tortugas.

Looks very tropical

Blue Ridge Parkway is another good one.
That whole area has a lot of nice drives.

Drove through Missouri on Highway 36 to I-35, it was a really nice drive and I didn't see one trooper the entire time from Illinois to Kansas City.

You get out of the farm lands and it's really nice.

One thing that struck me from Pennsylvania to Kansas is damn people grow a lot of corn.

Willmington, NC--close to beaches, and good architecture at a reasonable price (sort of a mini savannah or charleston)

A lot of nice places on here and I have been to a fair share of them, but Willmington gets my vote.

What've learned from this thread.

Our country is awesome. Everywhere.

I know it's not underrated or unknown but I'm spending this weekend in Chicago for the first time and we are having a blast. There's so much about this country and its cities that there is to experience and learn.

It's awesome people are picking Charlottesville, VA because it really is an awesome place. But it's maybe not just well known as Some others. Not sure that means it's underrated. In fact, Charlottesville is consistently well regarded by numerous publications and resources.

When I think f overrated I think of places that is commonly thought of as not a great place but you think otherwise.

In this regard I agree with the poster who mentioned the badlands of south dakota

Not in the US, but Montreal is freaking amazing. I'm also a big fan of coastal Maine and Northwest Arkansas.

I may be moving to Pittsburgh in the near future. I heard it's a nice town that has recovered well.

I hear the winters there are horrible.

Judging from the amount of ghost tours (including my hotel room) t-shirt shops, fudge and funnel cake vendors, art shops, fake gunfights in the street and just cheesy tourist shite Durango is fast becoming Gatlinburg of the west. Its getting almost as bad as Vegas with excursion operators trying to sell you tickets while walking down the street. Ouray and Silverton were both much better options in Southwestern CO. Depends on what you are looking for I guess.
