Teaching, Teaching, Teaching.....

Not sure if anyone read the fine print, coupling the degree with regretted based on that question is a bit of a stretch.
Maybe, if you want to make a pointless argument based on semantics.
It’s asking people if they feel they should have chosen a different degree. Seems pretty straightforward to me.

I have the least regretted degree and although I have enjoyed my career I wish I'd known at the time how many 2am phone calls I'd be getting. Might have stayed in engineering as a result of that knowledge

I loved studying industrial engineering and appreciate the experience even more as time goes on. Would do it all over again.

Poli Sci major here.
Curious as to what you do for a living if you don’t mind sharing?

I guess that is true. I saw it more those answering from recession-proof jobs vs non-recession proof in a recession would produce predictable answers.

There are no more journalists. Just cheerleaders.

I’m an attorney, though I don’t practice often and primarily work in consulting.

I don’t think that’s an accurate representation. Construction trades, business administration, and finance are “recession-proof” while the education, medical assisting, and biology are not?
I could argue that on the whole, the majors on the “least regretted” list are equally or even more likely to be impacted by a recession.
I don’t think general studies and sociology majors were doing all that much better in 2019.

Human Resources Management in the top 10 regret-free majors.
They aren't responsible for producing anything other than playing armchair QB and coming up with stupid ideas.
Yeah... and they pay us an absurd amount of money to do it lol.

Agreed.

I have an engineering degree and went into flying, over the years I wished I’d have picked something easier but as I’ve hit retirement age it’s incredible how many doors are open because of having that degree and quals associated with flying jets

Journalism is dead. No wonder it’s the most regretted degree.
Imagine hearing about what goes on at investment houses or in politics and not being able to report on it because your bosses bosses boss is colluding with both of them.
ETA: I've never regretted my instrument and automation degree from Pearl River Community College.

Journalism major here, then got a master’s in film. No regrets currently because I have a really cush job in advertising where I don’t have to do anything. Last week I worked about 2 hours total just doing location shoots. Salaried job and I do whatever I want all day, never have to go to the office. In season I go mountain biking 3-4 times a week and just check my email every now and then. Living the American dream!

I got a Chemical Engineering degree and worked for five years never regretting my choice. I went to graduate school for an MBA and then to law school. I have always regretted the two years I spent on the MBA. Terrible choice to get that degree and then immediately pursue a JD.

Meh
A pretty 23 year old female with a sociology/communications/anthropology/journalism degree will have lots of options.

You can do quite a bit with a psych degree. Most of the folks I knew in undergrad that didn’t go on to a Masters for therapy/psychiatry have done a variety of things like working in HR and stuff like that.

Do you really think that engineers don't get 2am phone calls?

It would be interesting to see what the preferred degree would be for the regrets list. All of those majors are starter degrees to set yourself up for advanced degrees.
But, if I had to choose, the most surprising choice is sociology or education. The professional expectations for those are the most straightforward.
The least surprising is biology. Everyone loves to white knight for STEM. But the BS in biology offers no more useful skills than the BA in journalism. I don’t think I’ve ever met someone with a biology degree that was happy with the choice…unless it was a successful spring board for Med school.
