The area around USC is pretty rough. I remember that Olympic sprinter got shot just off campus

Yeah it changes quickly. It's USC, then tram tracks and a fence, then it gets bad realll fast. Pretty sure I saw a legit chop shop and multiple corner girls

Really? There are places in America I've felt more threatened in than anywhere I've been in China.

Well, I tend to stay away from shitty parts of cities here in the states, and only stick to the normally safe tourist spots.

There's just a different feeling when you're in a foreign country, with no other Americans, and you have no idea where you are, who you're dealing with, or what these people's true intentions are.

Did you go to Xinjiang by any chance?

Nope.

All the random police checkpoints in Kenya were kinda scary to go through. They throw spikes on the road and stop every vehicle with a machine gun pointed at you yelling in Swahili.

Apparently the cops there are pretty corrupt and if you have anything of value in your car, they will just take it.

Laredo, Texas. Was down there for work, and the road I had to take (Old Mines Road, some of you may be familiar with it) to get to the job site was literally a stones throw away from the Mexican border. I had heard horror stories from some of my co-workers about illegals jacking vehicles and killing the drivers (oilfield workers mostly) No cell reception, and it was DARK. Needless to say, the Hail Mary's were flying

eta: besides that, LA

Yea, that's how Marshall Field is here in Chicago. It's in between a big commercial area and a train station, and nothing warns you that you are about to be in the projects. My first time being in an open-air drug market.

Fortunately they keep a cop car on all corners of the complex to keep them out of the nicer areas nearby
