The Most Dangerous US Cities and States to drive in

quote:

Key Findings
Mississippi is the most dangerous state for driving, with 30.1 accidents per 100,000 vehicles every year.
With 24.9 accidents per 100,000 vehicles each year, Baton Rouge is the most dangerous city for driving.
California and Texas are home to the most dangerous cities to drive in at night - Chula Vista is the most dangerous, with 74.6% of all reported car accidents occurring at night.
In 18 of the 25 most dangerous counties for driving, more than half of the population lives in rural areas.

quote:

According to our analysis, Baton Rouge, the capital and second-largest city in Louisiana, reports an average of 24.9 accidents per 100,000 vehicles annually, making it the most dangerous city for driving.. In 2014, the city gained the dubious distinction of being the most sprawling midsized metro in the U.S.

Of the 10 most dangerous cities to drive, 6 are in the South, 3 are in the Midwest, and 1 is in the West. Most of the cities are mid-size metro areas with a mix of urban and suburban development.

Not surprising, but worth noting when you’re sitting in bumper to bumper traffic everywhere you go.

Does Mississippi have the same amount of car wreck lawsuits as Louisiana though?

Not sure if they have as many personal injury lawyer billboards as we do.

Did they draw that map in MS Paint? Or did they let one of those AI Art Bots paint it?

This only factors in traffic accidents and not carjackings and stray bullets though, correct?

Seems like all of the most dangerous cities and states have something in common.

No and alot of MS wrecks are single car accidents on rural highways and roads with not much if any speed, dui, or seat belt enforcement outside incorporated city limits.

I guess New Orleans is the most dangerous for a parked car.

Doesn’t count if you get shot on the interstate - not what they’re measuring.

How does the entire state of Mississippi rank 6 accidents higher yet BR is the worst?

That doesn’t make sense

Based on population

But the accidents are normalized per 100,000 vehicles. So some city in MS must have a higher rate than BR, unless most wrecks happen in unincorporated areas of The Landmass
