About 30 years ago was last time I wore steel toe. They were great back then

I like Danner. Most of my coworkers run through boots within a year and im on year 4 with my same pair of Danners. Could also be that i dont work as hard as them, not sure

I’ve worn Keens , maybe it’s my feet but I hated the boots. Very uncomfortable to wear.

They’ve come a long way. Nano toe cap.

Thorogood all day.
Plus it will offset the silk panty stigma that you engineering types get in the field. Put a tape measure on your hip and you might actually not need to issue 4 revisions.

Double H steel toe Mickey. They arent lace up but you’re an engineer…… embrace the gravy job and get you some slip on’s and iron those blue jeans and buy you some nice long sleeve button up polos. Will look way better and they are super comfortable.

Thorogoods are trash. I’d buy Danner bull run, I’m wearing soft moc toe Danners now and they are light years ahead of thorogoods in quality and comfort.

Bull Rins are better than Thorogoods. Hands down. I own a pair of Danner Quarry alloy toes. And for a waterproof work boot, they're solid.
But if you were to try JK Dorefronts vs Bull Runs, it's not a compet. I've owned Bull Runs before.
Do yourself a favor when your Bull Runs wear out, try Forefronts. I put them to the test daily and they are twice the boot a Bull Run is. Now they cost twice as much, but you can resole/rebuild them forever. The leather and support won't wear out.

I love my Redwings with the ratchets. Waterproof, shockproof, good tread, composite toe and bootplate for punctures.
Tightness of laces with the ease of a slip on. Great support. Worth the money
I have had three pairs of the tradesmen.
Get a new voucher every year. Two pairs are still in the box because the first one is still holding strong

Yep, I got a pair of Irish Setters last year from Red Wing and they were comfortable right out of the box. No break in period needed at all

The last Red Wings I bought were the most comfortable pair I have ever owned. They were lace-ups. But I do not have the exact model of Red Wing that was. That is part of the thing when it comes to recommendations, your feet are different than mine so which style or brand works best for you may vary. Also, the type of work/surfaceIConcrete, steel, rock, shell, dirt, etc) can make a big difference when it comes to comfort throughout the day
I would also add that a good pair of insoles can make a world of difference.
Before those redwings, I had a pair of Wolverines that would have been my favorites, the only issue is the soles wore out too quickly on those.

I have a wide foot and tried them all I feel like.
In store purchase Red Wing King Toe.
If you order Danner is my favorite. They are amazing and their steelyard sole you can stand all day in them on concrete.

I've always worn Timberland Pros . They're super comfortable once you get them broke in.

What's this "work" thing about?
J/K. Back in the day, Redwings were king of the oilfield with no slipping on slick metal floors and caustic soda didn't dissolve the stitching. They were comfortable for me.
Pull-ons for offshore, lacers for land rigs.
