A fricking vet is essentially an MD for 20 different species.thet are legit some of the most deserving people to be called "doctor" in the medical profession.

I used to knock chiros til I threw my back out, that chiropractor saved my fricken life. I wouldn’t be so quick to hate on them. The guy who can help your back is more valuable than the GP prescribing antibiotics but tells you it’s prob just a viral cold for a living.

I'm a physical therapist who owns a nice outpatient practice and I just kind of laugh when people call me "doctor" and just ask them to refer to me by my name.
Have some colleagues who insist on being called doctor and I think it is about the cringiest thing I have ever heard.

Thank you good sir. We are expected to be able to perform our own imaging, lab work, surgery and anesthesia on an emergency case without an entire hospital team. On top of that we need to be internists, parasitologists, many many other things on a daily basis.
I had a human anesthesiologist tell me one day he thought veterinarians were one of the last true physicians left.

I will call someone with a real MD, DO, DPM, DVM, DMD, or DDS degree "Doctor" in a professional setting. I don't really object to it in a casual setting.
An OD is a notch below those people, in my opinion, but I would certainly use "Doctor" in a professional setting. It is a legit doctoral degree.
I called my professors "Doctor" or "Professor" in college. These people have all earned this small courtesy.
With a chiropractor, I'd probably try to work around the issue somehow... something between "Doctor" and "Hey, you..."

Chiropractors creep me out. I've heard too many stories of people messed up by chiropractors to think it's a real science. I've never heard of anyone messed up by an optometrist (I'm sure it's happened; I've just never heard of it).
