Good talk, counselor. You better go get dressed for court.

Mitch DGAF if they come down or not at this point. He got his moment in the sun that he can use to run for Senate. That's what this was all about. Moon was back there pulling the strings the whole time.

I actually am curious to see all the minorities turn the city around once the monuments do come down.

Yes but at what cost? The "blue dog" label that the Landrieu's and other La Dems hold so dear is completely destroyed and many who only would have otherwise had a general disdain for him now hate him, which translates to strong motivation to turn out against him at the polls.

I just hope one of the sites is renamed in honor of Louis Armstrong. We dont have enough tribute on display for this drug addict, derelict, mobster, womanizing, wife beating, degenerate thief.

Pennsylvania Station in Manhattan,
I'm pretty sure I remember reading that the demolition of penn station created a huge uproar and its demolition fueled a national movement for the preservation of historic landmarks.
Eta: LINK "In 1962 plans were revealed to demolish the terminal and build entertainment venue Madison Square Garden on top of it. The new train station would be entirely underground and boast amenities such as air-conditioning and fluorescent lighting.
Vocal backlash and protests ensued, but the plan moved forward and Penn Station was demolished.
The outrage was a major catalyst for the architectural preservation movement in the United States. In 1965, the New York Landmarks Law was passed, which helped save the iconic Grand Central Terminal and more than 30,000 other buildings from similar fates. 2015 marks its 50th anniversary."

Also, is there a MLK statue? Never looked for one.
I think there is a bust of his head on a pedestal at MLK and Claiborne.

Just stating it wasn't protected under the 1966 act like Rex stated it was.
I was incorrect on that. Bad information from a website, and I always admit when I'm wrong.
HOWEVER....
The argument doesn't change. Over 1750 sites have been removed under the 1966 act because it was never intended to be permanent protection against all cases.

These monuments are too important to the city and the people.
The city council won't be enough to have these treasures removed.
