Monster Jam

Took the fam to monster jam on Sunday and the kids enjoyed it (boys 3 & 8). The wife also enjoyed her first time. I have to admit no matter how old I get, horsepower and big Tonka trucks are cool. After the show we were discussing if the thing is staged, what says the OT? This show also had 4 wheeler races, are the racers and bikes local, or are they part of the show?
TIA
TIA

What do you mean? Like they are fake monster trucks?

We went this year, my 3 year old was ready to go after the races. Wish they just started with the freestyle, that's what's everyone wants to see anyway. Takes about 2 hours to get there, my kid had checked out at that point. Next year will be better
I really liked it, although amazed they just tear up these several hundred thousand dollar machines. Guess that's why tickets cost so much

It’s staged. I was there also and at one point the girl announcer said “and the winner is Max... er, next up is Grave Digger”!
Max D “won” after Grave Digger was done.
The wife and I were laughing about how fake it is the whole way home. The kids loved it though.

Staged as in what truck wins each of the events. They had head to head races, how much time a truck could stay on 2 wheels, donut & freestyle. It was obvious there were some trucks way better than others. Perhaps it was the skill level of the drivers?

I seriously doubt any of the spectators care which truck wins week to week.

In a dome/MBS, yes. It is very loud.

Yes, 100%. All of the drivers are experts and they follow a script. The shite where you vote with your phone in real time, is real, but it is based on opinions of spectators on stuff that is scripted, so the vote is really just a reflection of whether or not the drivers did their job.
"Earning points on the circuit" like it's a bass tournament, nascar, or golf, it's all bullshite.
Sort of like that rage against the machine video during the Bush-Gore election, "Testify"
But don't tell the little ones that.

It used to be cool to watch Monster Jam/monster trucks even as an adult. It was a bunch of dudes putting a shite ton of money on the line to build a truck almost from scratch with massive blown engines that could flat-out obliterate anything in their way.
Nowadays all of the uniqueness is gone. All the trucks are built by the same people and the drivers actually go to a monster truck school to learn how to drive how the big wigs want them to.
The 90s were awesome for monster trucks. Nowadays they just run over dirt.
