Also, if you’re off on a Monday, then you have the rest of the week to catch up if needed. It’s much easier to manage.
If you are off on a Friday, there can be that pressure all week to squeeze your workload into the beginning of the week.
I usually have plans if I’m taking a three day weekend. It’s easy to knock off early on a Friday and get my weekend started.

Especially for weekend trips where you fly

I work 4 10s M-T I like getting an early start to the weekend, but I can see where off Monday would have value

I would rather have Monday off but any three day weekend is great.

I'm off Fridays and work from home Monday and Thursday so that makes Monday not too bad

Been dying on this hill for at least 15 years.. but it always seemed like I was going against the grain since most of my coworkers chose to take off Fridays when scheduling a three day weekend .
I always select Mondays off if given the choice- the only exception ive made is if attending a home LSU game in Baton Rouge while im living out of state, then ill take Friday off as a travel day, game on Sat, then fly back home on Sunday .
