Mom slammed after demanding $80 cover from guests to attend son’s birthday party

Taking to Mumsnet, user FurCoatNoSnickers revealed that her teen had been invited to a Go Karting party for a 14-year-old friend, but she was reluctant to send him following the mom’s demands.

Details were the date, the activity-transport provided (it’s an 80-mile round trip) and a request of Amazon vouchers for present,” the woman explained.
“In the last few weeks since [school let out] I’ve been updated with further texts from the mother of birthday boy asking for deposits for the karting ($23) and the remainder on the day ($36) THEN that was followed up by a request for ($23) for the transport hmm.

Assuming 20 kids going .. charter bus 80 mile trip there, sitting in parking lot for 4 hours, then 80 mile trip back. $40 per kid x 20 kids = $800 for bus
Then $23 each for go kart riding ...
Really doesn't seem that extreme to me...?
Stupid idea to have a bday party where you have to bus kids to attend
ETA: re-reading and I'm not sure what "remainder of the day" means .. she trying to get guests to pay for her son's pizza and cake ?

It’s a kids birthday party. Order some pizzas, haul out the slip n slide, and call it a day.

You don’t invite people to a kids birthday party then expect them to pay to cover the cost of the party.

This kid will turn into the guy at the bar who will order 10 shots for your group of friends that no one wants and then tell the waitress to split the shot up on everyone’s tab

She basically wanted enough money to 100 percent cover the entire event, a shyt ton of gifts and lil chunk of change left over for her.
