Aww, come on man. You're acting like we live in West Africa or something. I've spent plenty of time in the worst of the worst neighborhoods, and the poorest or the poor places in LA and MS, and it's not as bad as you're making it out to be.
Both white and black people are slobs. I've seen it. It's not relegated to just the inner-city black community.

This isn’t a good thing. I turned down a good job offer from a major tech company because I suspected I was just going to be an affirmative action hire. I bombed the technical part of the interview, but still got offered because they “liked my personality”.
I still struggle with imposter syndrome to this day. Bottom line, just hire the best candidate, and don’t tell me I’m great if I’m just mediocre.
