Mobile was the capital of LOUISIANA in 1703. You stated ALABAMA in your post.

You are correct.
People from North Louisiana don't get this.

The french wanted to conquer pensacola first. But the spanish was already there. So heading west, the first city on the map was Dauphin island and Mobile .

The first Capital of Louisiana
Dauphin island
Mobile
Biloxi
New orleans
Baton rouge
In that Order.

Meanwhile a retired client informed me why his successor engineer at plastics and chemicals plant got the axe this week. The multinational company is shutting down production lines because they cannot find workers to replace retirees. It is located between Nashville and Memphis. Maintenance costs have escalated 75% due lack of construction hands over the last 5 years.

Great to have these infrastructure jobs but where are the workers going to come from, Mexico? Syria? Nigeria? Haiti? Retiring boomers are leaving a huge vacuum in the labor force

Amazing what a little Republican leadership can do.

God I have high hope for Battin Rudge. I hope that it can reach it's potential and become the Baton Rouge it always could be.

Sorry to derail, I just had to get that off of my chest.

Downtown international airport,

Uh, no. From what I understand, they want to build a new terminal at downtown & move all commercial flights there, since it’s much closer than mobile regional.

Correct, but the influence of both Mobile and NOLA essentially makes the three MS Gulf Coast counties the extended suburbs of both. It’s 45 minutes from Biloxi to Mobile and 90 minutes from Biloxi to NOLA.

You can throw all the money you want at Mobile but it will NEVER be an nice city.

Their demographics will always create a ceiling. Sure there will be pockets that are nice, but you could say that about almost any city.
