Meanwhile, we have a rarely used fancy brand new bridge crossing the river via hwy10 in Pointe Coupee going into St Francisville. Hahaha

I remember reading an article a free years ago about the history behind how that thing got built. It was on a website with a really old web design and I can't remember for the life of me where I read it. So much shady politics were involved. Favors for local reps or something. Does anyone know the history on the Audubon bridge?

It's unclear how much the overall project will cost. Initial estimates peg it anywhere from $800 million to over $1 billion.

Didn't we just spend that much on the "Bridge to Nowhere" in St. Francisville?

Just the bridge is probably a billion.

The new I10 bridge over lake ponchartrain was like 650 mill. So new 8 lane bayway probably about a billion as well.

This job is being done as P3 so it won't take forever. Investors won't allow it.

Could you explain what "P3" means?

Gonna miss the tunnel

The tunnel(s) aren't going away. I-10 just won't run through them any more. They will be more for local traffic.

I bet most traffic going to FL is coming down 95.

I bet you never heard of I-65 or I-75.

I-10 between New Orleans and Baton Rouge should be 8 lanes. It is laughable that we only have two lanes in each direction between our two largest cities.

Take a cross-country drive. Any decent sized city has multiple lanes in each direction for 30-40+ miles. Cities in close proximity to each other almost certainly have at least 3 lanes in each direction. I'll never understand why we put up with this crap.

The entirety of I-12 should be at least 6 lanes. 8 lanes would make more sense going forward.
