Moonwalk should be renamed and NEVER again should a landreau or any relative be elected to office again!

Shouldn't they be required to disclose a permit or the cost of the winning bid? Why all the secrecy?

Corruption at its finest.

I hope Mitch gets the Mussolini treatment.

Antifa there. I assume in support of taking down the monuments. And to have the workers dressed like that merry band of commies is very bad optics.

The ONLY bid that was submitted was Cuzan Construction (or however you spell it). It has to be them.

I don't even care. Let them take down the liberty place monument. It's pretty racist anyway. But if they try this type of bullshite with lee and Beauregard there will be hell to pay.

What do you mean "if"? It's a 4-monument deal. Its not if, it's when.

Never thought I would see the day when an American mayor would act like the Taliban.

Guess I should have seen this coming. The liberal mantra is:

This offends me, make it go away.

Not if a huge mob of people overtake police barricades and bust some skulls.

This empty concrete base is probably going to be there for years now.

In 1974, the city government added an adjacent marker, which stated:

"Although the "battle of Liberty Place" and this monument are important parts of the New Orleans history, the sentiments in favor of white supremacy expressed thereon are contrary to the philosophy and beliefs of present-day New Orleans."

When the monument was moved in 1993, some of the original inscriptions were removed, and replaced with new inscriptions that state in part:
"In honor of those Americans on both sides who died in the Battle of Liberty Place ... A conflict of the past that should teach us lessons for the future."

At least the last generation knew how to handle things. You and most of New Orleans aren't concerned with this particular statue however it's the fact that it is being torn down and the manner in which it is being done that you should be worried about.

It has to be Cuzan right? Can the city just secretly hire someone else?

It was my understanding the Cuzan bid excluded Liberty Place, which the city would deal with separately. I never saw where the city actually bid last night's work.

I'm so glad I never voted for Mitch, not even once.

Truly sad times for New Orleans. Destroying US history will accomplish nothing. We are such a backwards country right now.
