You don’t have to be the mayor’s son to get out of a DUI. There is no love lost between Cannizzaro and Landrieu. Landrieu’s son’s charges got reduced because he paid competent counsel to make that happen despite his father.

Ben's attorney, I would presume. Did you even read the NOLA article stating that a reduction in charge to Reckless Driving was fairly common for first offense DWIs?
I hate the fricking Landrieus, but getting a first offense DWI reduced isn't that uncommon. It happens all the time without the mayor intervening and using his influence. And by the way, don't Leon Cannizzaro and Mitch Landrieu hate each other? Landrieu seems to try to frick with the DA's Office at every opportunity. Why would Cannizzaro help that prick out?
