With bureaucracy, expect bureaucratic things.

They didnt run out

They are just that slow in scheduling the shots

MS has administered only 54,544 of their 212,050 supply

MS has vaccinated 54K they have 50K with appointments over the next 2 weeks. They have to have 2 doses for 104K patients so 208,000 of the 212,500 supply is allocated to a patient.

For MS this may be a good thing. The feds are deciding how much vaccine to send each State. Maybe they send more to MS that's getting it out to the people instead of sending it to Cali where it will take up space in a freezer.

And that, to me, is ridiculous

It should not take 4+ weeks to go through your supply

Weren’t the feds already holding back 50% for the 2nd shot? States didn’t need to be doing that.

The feds just announced they will be shipping the remaining doses, so their supply should be doubling within the next 2-3 weeks (in addition to whatever they were already planning to ship)

California is right in line with how MS has done so far

California
Doses distributed to state: 3,286,050
Doses administered: 816,301
Percentage of distributed vaccines that have been administered: 24.84

Mississippi
Doses distributed to state: 212,050
Doses administered: 54,544
Percentage of distributed vaccines that have been administered: 25.72

Alabama and Georgia have been maybe the worst in the entire nation

Alabama
Doses distributed to state: 377,025
Doses administered: 78,134
Percentage of distributed vaccines that have been administered: 20.72

Georgia
Doses distributed to state: 960,975
Doses administered: 170,571
Percentage of distributed vaccines that have been administered: 17.75

Somehow, LA is towards the top of the pack

Louisiana
Doses distributed to state: 368,300
Doses administered: 142,771
Percentage of distributed vaccines that have been administered: 38.76

How do you schedule appointments if the supply is unknown? You can't give the 1st dose if you don't know if you will have the 2nd dose required.

If you want to use this logic, that means they had 106,000 doses they should have been working with

Somehow they have managed to only administer 54,000 of those over a month in

Utterly absurd

What really absurd is the Feds are in charge of getting vaccines to the nursing home patients in MS using CVS and Walgreens. Only 4100 nursing home patients have received the vaccine due to CVS and Walgreens not having the staff to administer the vaccine.

Agreed. I get the idea of using that infrastructure as it should be “all hands on deck” but if they way over promised on their ability to execute, they should be held accountable

Sounds like your specific medical facility is out of vaccines... Because the state of ms is definitely not out.

Update on coronavirus vaccine:
@LADeptHealth
says it has received more than 320,000 doses and has administered more than 201,000 of them so far. 30,988 people have received both doses of the two-dose vaccine. #lalege #lagov
