with no call being made to parents after accident and a recent fight with the Bf it does looks like she jumped. Sad all the way around

I don’t think they even start looking for a missing adult for a day. I can’t imagine expecting the cops to call an adult’s parents every time they think that adult is missing. Especially right away.

When it's an abandoned running car on the top of an enormous bridge in the middle of the night, I'd say someone should be called.

They probably assumed the car was stolen and abandoned. If they have no reason to think something terrible happened, why would they?
I don’t disagree that they need to be held accountable for how they handled this, but we have no idea what they did at this point. I don’t think it’s beneficial to just assume they dropped the ball till we know for sure they did.

The top of the bridge in the middle lane would be an odd and really risky place to “stage” an accident or something if she had been kidnapped before that. Under the bridge or somewhere under or around 110 would’ve probably been an easier scenario for a kidnapper, unless of course you’re dealing with a psycho who wants to be caught and engage law enforcement in some type of game.
The belongings in the car is so strange. Im trying to avoid thinking she jumped. If she didn’t call her family did she call anyone else? Text? Was her car just rear-ended or was it impacted by more than one vehicle? Who else did she interact with that day other than the boyfriend? I’m sure all these questions are being considered and that they’ll run a fine toothed comb over her car. If there isn’t a trace of someone else’s dna, nothing picked up from cameras, etc i guess there’s only one likely conclusion. Thinking of her jumping, especially into that crazy river on a windy night is so bizarre.
The car apparently was found running if im not mistaken so I guess that rules out car trouble on the bridge. Really hate hearing about this. Perhaps the best way this could play out is she tried to orchestrate her own disappearance and is holed up safely either alone or with someone she trusts and is trying to figure out her next move. It’s just hard to think about.
Sorry for the rambling post it just sucks to hear this. Thoughts go out to her family.

A college freshman’s car is left running on the bridge with her belongings inside and you think the logical thing for police to do is have the car towed and call it a day? I don’t think that would be ok for any age but particularly not for a girl who is barely an adult.
How about trying to contact someone to make sure she’s safe if they think the car is stolen? How about asking if she might have a medical condition? Ask if anyone knows her whereabouts instead of letting hours/days pass until her employer becomes alarmed?
Shouldn’t they be curious about someone leaving their car in the middle of the road, causing an accident on an interstate bridge in the middle of the night?
Police get shite on far too often but there should be a good explanation as to why they weren’t more concerned about this.

They believe that she was headed westbound on the bridge and then turned around to go back eastbound towards Baton Rouge.
Sadly I assume she probably drove westbound and either thought about it for a minute or maybe traffic was too heavy then came back around eastbound and decided to jump then

How do we know they did/ didn’t do any of this? I read every page of this thread there’s nothing but speculation as to what the cops did/ didn’t do- outside of towing the car. Which needed to be done.
I’m not giving them a pass. But I don’t know what they did yet. Does anyone? What’s the point of bitching about how they handled this if we don’t know what they did?
Hell, all we know from this thread is that WBR responded to the initial call of an abandoned car on the EBR side of the bridge. An EBR towing company impounded the vehicle and now LSU is investigating. We don’t know what anyone did/ didn’t do. But we’re emotional cause a young girl is missing.
So we need to blame someone?

This sounds mostly like an abduction.
No it doesn’t, I’m not even sure how you have 4 upvotes considering the facts. Her car running without damage until someone hit it after it was abandoned should tell you all you need to know. If it was broken down on the side lane maybe foul play could be suspected.
I did just see that they now have boats out searching

Its horrible to imagine what was going through her mind if she did jump. I actually can't even relate to feeling like that

Sadly that's the best case scenario in this situation.
Posted on 4/9/21 at 7:05 am to tigerinthebueche
It's totally a different scenario when you're car is found abandoned in a highway and you are missing.
Than if you just didn't come home on time one night.

Maybe- just maybe- they’ve known she jumped since
the beginning?
For all the speculation and questioning of what officials did/didn’t do, maybe they had confirmation that she went over the side and were waiting the 3 or so days it usually takes for a corpse to surface? Maybe they know- based on current river conditions- that she will likely surface around Convent or Donaldsonville and is probably snagged on a barge or in the flooded willow trees along the levee. That would explain why LSU specifically mentioned searching by air.
It would also explain why it appears there was no sense of urgency to notify the public of her disappearance. Maybe they’re just trying to get her remains before they go public. Out of respect for the family.

any white pickup trucks spotted in the area?
Somewhere between tree fiddy and eleventy billion were spotted within a 2 mile radius in the first hour.

You made a great point and sadly our urban police departments in this state generally aren't very good.

That's the first thought I had. Car running on the road. She had a mental break.
It's sad too. A salutatorian on scholarship. She had a lot ahead of her. Sad that I'm actually hoping she was abducted because at least then there is a chance. But if I were her family I would have People down river searching for her.
