I was responding to the guy saying it should be pretty easy to distinguish if it was her or not. It's not going to be easy to look at a body in the water for that long and recognize anything.

Has this ever happened? Most car jackers look for dead-ends, industrial areas, bayous, swamps to get rid of the victim/driver.
Car jacking someone on the Mississippi river bridge is comical to even imagine, especially in his scenario where they don't even take the car

Has this been confirmed by anyone? I think we all suspect that it's her.

So I guess we never found out if any cameras on the bridge or nearby caught anything? I know that was discussed earlier on.

The article states:
Does "a while" constitute 5 days?

Well she may be a bit decomposed but clothing and jewelry are still intact to some extent. If they know what her wardrobe was, that’ll help make the identity in the field.

5 days is a long time for a body in a river. It’ll be unrecognizable, decomposing, falling apart, eaten on, etc.

I propose a "Kori's Law" to the state legislature. Force the LADOTD to replace all DOTD cameras with 4k cameras that record and store a week's worth of data and maintain those cameras and storage data constantly. Not only would have saved this poor girl's family so much emotional stress by knowing from the start what happened to her instead of sitting and wondering what happened but it would also assist law enforcement with missing persons cases. I think we can all agree that it's pretty fricked up that our taxes pay for all those cameras but not a single one of them has the ability to record and store the data for a period of time.

5 days in the river will make the body look like it's been in the water for a while......5 days is a long time to be underwater...and you dont know what kind of animals may have gotten to the body or if the body was hit by a boat prop or struck by a barge or other vessel

Probably. But a lot of that stuff could be blown off after slamming into the water from 175+ feet and being in the water for days.

Yes. 120 hours soaking in the water is a long time. Think about what your fingers look like after just 30-45 minutes...and that’s with blood flow

Y’all keep saying she’ll be unrecognizable, but cold water slows decomposition down. If that water is 60F, she’s not that badly altered. They can probably make a pretty good ID in the field.

I knew a family friend who jumped from the Sunshine Bridge 20 years ago. The impact literally decapitated her and they used the numbers from her breast implants to identify her body when they found it a few days later. The impact alone from that kind of fall will do a hell of a lot of damage to the human body. Then being in the water for that long will do a lot more. They won't be able to identify her right away.

That was one thing I remember from Katrina. I had no idea water could do such grostesque things to a body. Straight out of a horror movie

I did a quick google search to find decomp rates in water. I'm not sure if I am allowed to post the link, as it has some pretty graphic images, but you can easily search yourself. And yes, based on what I saw, it's quite likely she isn't recognizable.
