Does Louisiana have some kind of diversion program like Florida? I got one earlier in Florida and since it was my first offense in Florida I could do the diversion program. Only had to pay a $200 fine and take some easy test. Plus the ticket does not go on my record. I would find out if Louisiana has anything like this.

So you're a sex offender?

Nah. I took my older brothers birth certificate and got a drivers license in his name. I did get a reckless driving ticket in his name. He never could figure that shite out.

I would really reconsider putting that info on the internet...

It sure sounds like the police are profiling our young white college kids.

Considering he's dead and I'm more than middle aged I'd say I'm ok.

I would try to get it off your record if you ever plan on working for a major company. I had to report mine on applications when I was in college and I feel that it had a negative effect on my chances.
Also, it's mind blowing that they're out in such full force slapping this shite on college students.

Do you?
I never had a MIP and I wouldn't recommend wasting your one get-out-free card on it unless you know you will never get in trouble again.
I don't report my DUI on anything.. Granted, I used pre-trial and I don't even think the case is closed yet (I haven't heard from my lawyer in like 2 years, so who knows), but I wonder if MIPs even show up on basic background checks.

Where would an MIP being on someone's record cause problems in the future? Serious question. I got one when I was younger and just paid the fine. It's still on my record but I've never even been questioned by previous employers

Pretrial is a waste for something like an MIP. having an MIP on your record will not prevent you from getting any job at all, except for maybe fbi CIA and shite like that, and in those situations, even if you did the pretrial, they will still be able to see it. Don't waste your money on pretrial

Honestly I don't know how to feel about that.

I got one of these my freshman year. I showed up to court in a court and tie. When the judge called me up, I simply said, "I don't know how to plead, I just want this off my record."
He set me up with the prosecutor. I paid 100-150 in fines, and 100 to the public defenders' fund and maybe a $50 class on a Saturday.
Other advice I can give you--tell your parents. They probably know someone that can make it go away. I wish I had taken this advice about 10 different times throughout my life.

If they do a detailed enough background check they'll still see pretrial and expunged charges. Not many companies do that though.

Years ago it came up with my then potential employer. They mentioned it came up with a standard criminal background check. I got the job anyway but it came up. I checked and I was told it would 500 to expunge it. Not sure if it would hurt someone for employment reasons, but I do know it sticks.

Isn't it cool how cops can just make crap up on the spot?
I predict cops will revolt against body cams.

Back when I got one I brought that shite to trial. Judge had never even seen an MIP case go to trial. She dismissed it in exchange for me "donating" $100 to some law enforcement foundation
